Fantasy Baseball Playoffs: Hitters to Add for Your Playoff Push

The fantasy baseball playoffs are upon us. Teams made their September call ups and some of those players are worth adding to your playoff team.

As the fantasy baseball season winds down, there are plenty of players that remain less than 50% owned in standard leagues that will contribute to your team come playoff time. Below are just a couple of names that can help bring you a title in 2016.

Martin Prado

Someone with the highest ownership percentage on this list at 48% in ESPN leagues, Prado provides the kind of value you want going into a playoff spot; consistency. Over the course of the 2016 season, Prado’s batting average has never dipped below .305 and in 4/5 months, he batted over .300. Currently sitting at .313 with Stanton’s return on the horizon, I think he is the player to give your team a boost int he runs and RBIs department.

Yasiel Puig

The Dodgers are eyeing a playoff spot and they definitely want Puig to be apart of that. After mashing another home run last night, that gives Puig two home runs in his nine at-bats since being recalled from Triple A. Puig is the anti-Prado, high risk, but very high reward. Don’t forget where the experts projected Puig to be and he can still recapture that.

Byron Buxton

Is there a hitter hotter in baseball not named Byron Buxton? Yes, his name is Brian Dozier but you won’t find his name on the waiver wire and his teammate isn’t far behind. Finally, the Twins are becoming the offense they were projected to be. Over the past week, Buxton has ten Runs and RBIs, with four home runs to pair with a .462 AVG and a 1.077 SLG. And he is right in the middle of a lineup finding their stroke.

Andrew Benintendi

We all saw what Super Benintendo could do before his scary knee injury in August. With report of Benintendi being ahead of schedule in his rehab, some peg his return during the middle of the fantasy playoffs with the general consensus being “sooner rather than later”. Definitely should be a DL stash for those looking to compete in September.

Jose Peraza

Peraza’s speed is undeniable. With the Reds out of playoff contention, they’ve committed to playing the rookie and he has rewarded them with a .484/.500/.629 slash line over 17 games since his callup. His positional flexibility is just a bonus, with SS, 2B, and OF and the Reds finding ways to get Peraza in the lineup every day (four different positions played in the last five games).

Some bonus names include Yulieski Gurriel and Josh Bell. Josh Bell gets his first start in the outfield today so the possibility of both he and Gurriel, who already has started in three different positions so far this year, gives you added flexibility on your bench. Every at-bat counts and those players will ensure you don’t miss a game with lineup constraints.
