DraftKings NFL Picks: The Peak, Weak, and Sneak of the Week!

First off, I’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to my nephew, Ethan. He turns 7 today and is an avid reader. Happy Birthday! Now, let’s get down to business. If you are new to the article, thank you for reading! The ‘Peak, Weak, and Sneak of the Week’ column will be a weekly article about three quarterbacks that I believe could impact your DraftKings lineup in a positive or negative way. The three categories are below:

Peak – A quarterback I like most this week, based on match-up, and their cost.

Weak – A quarterback who many analysts are high on, or has a large price tag that won’t be worth their cost.

Sneak – A quarterback sleeper for the week. A low-cost quarterback with boom potential.

‘Peak of the Week’ Cam Newton ($7,800) – Welcome to the 2016 ‘Peak of the Week’ club, QB Cam Newton. Cam is the most expensive quarterback on DraftKings this week, but it makes sense. Cam is coming off a rough week against a tough Vikings defense. That all changes when Cam and the Carolina Panthers head to Atlanta.

The Falcons, on a short week, will have trouble containing the reigning NFL MVP. The Falcons pass defense is not good. They have given up 10 touchdowns in 3 weeks. They have intercepted 2 passes (last week). Lastly, they give up 318 yards per game through the air.

Enter Cam Newton. Cam has not looked like an MVP to this point. Sunday, that changes. Last time the Panthers came to Atlanta, the Falcons ruined Carolinas undefeated season. With the return of Kelvin Benjamin, and a healthy Greg Olsen, Cam should have no problem slinging the rock all over the Georgia dome.

Lights, CAMera, Action! Cam Newton is my ‘Peak of the Week.’

‘Weak of the Week’ –  Matt Ryan ($7,000) – QB Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons has been one of the hottest quarterback in the NFL this season, and has been the best DraftKings NFL Picks for QB through week 3.  Ryan has thrown for 730 yards, with a 73.2 completion percentage with 5 TDs to 1 INT. The Falcons QB also has had a light schedule to date. Ryan has faced off against Tampa Bay(5th worst against QBs), Oakland(3rd worst against QBs), and New Orleans (11th worst against QBs).

On a short week, Ryan and the Falcons are home and play the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL, especially against the pass. The Panthers rank 8th best in the league, giving up 13.83 fantasy points per game. Carolina only allows 197 yards per game through the air. The Panthers have given up 4 touchdowns through 3 games, but have also intercepted 4 passes.

As the ninth month dies and the tenth month begins, just like the weather, Matt Ryan will cool off and have a chilly week. Matt Ryan is my ‘Weak of the Week.’

‘Sneak of the Week’ – Trevor Siemian ($5,300) – Trevor has made John Elway look like a QB general manager genius. The Broncos are off to a 3-0 start with a 2015 7th round pick. The Broncos are led by their defense, but Siemian has looked good.

Some players have issues when coming cross-country. In his one game coming to the east coast, Siemian played the Bengals. The Northwestern product threw for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns in week 3 against the Bengals. In week 4, Siemian plays the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs give up the fifth most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. In 3 games this season, the Bucs surrendered 7 TDs and 280 yards per game.

Sure, the sample size is small, but the Broncos and Siemian should gallop their way to a win and a big week. Trevor Siemian is my ‘Sneak of the Week.’

Good Luck this week gamers!
