The No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers come from behind twice to beat the No. 25 Georgia Bulldogs, 34-31. Here are the highlights, a recap, and the score.

The No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers push on the 5-0 (2-0) on the season, as they stun the No. 25 Georgia Bulldogs twice in the final minutes win in Athens, 34-31. Tennessee trailed at halftime, 17-7, but outscored Georgia, 20-7 in the fourth quarter to win this SEC East rivalry game.

Tennessee looked lost at times in the beginning of the game. Running back Alvin Kamara fumbled the ball on a run. Running back Jalen Hurd out did Kamara by fumbling the ball at the goal line for a Georgia touchback. Yet it was the elite pass rush of the Volunteers and the never-say-die attitude of the offense that won Tennessee this game.

Volunteers quarterback Joshua Dobbs continues to play his best ball in the fourth quarter. He’s not incredibly efficient passing the ball in the first half, but he can sure galvanize the Volunteers in the second half. Tennessee also has one of the best defensive ends in the country in Derek Barnett. His two sacks set the tone for Tennessee in this game.

It wasn’t all bad for Georgia, despite giving up a last-second touchdown pass from Dobbs to lose at home. Freshman quarterback Jacob Eason showed he has what it takes to carry this team. His arm is outrageously strong!

Georgia ran the ball well with Sony Michel and Brien Herrien, but the offensive line is not doing its job keeping Eason upright. The Bulldogs should have won this game, but two costly turnovers in the fourth quarter did them in.

The Bulldogs actually had this game all wrapped up on a potential game-winning touchdown pass from Eason to wide receiver Riley Ridley with 10 seconds left. Poor execution on the kickoff and the Hail Mary defense sunk Georgia on Saturday evening.

Three Stars

  1. Joshua Dobbs: Dobbs wasn’t perfect, but he continues to be the best player on the Tennessee offense. He completed 16 of 26 passes for 229 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Dobbs ran the ball 11 times for 26 yards and a touchdown.
  2. Derek Barnett: Barnett was the difference maker in this game. He had two huge sacks, including a strip sack of Eason in the end zone for a Tennessee touchdown.
  3. Jacob Eason: Eason showed off his rocket arm in defeat. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and one fumble.
