Here is a preview of what you can expect for college football under the lights for a big Week 7.
Week 6 of the 2016 college football season is in the books, and now we look ahead to a big Week 7. The Top 25 is heating up and changing on a weekly basis. This week, there’s some interesting games as well as a contest that will be rescheduled. Keep in mind, all times are listed as Central.
We’ll kick things off on Thursday night, with what was SUPPOSED to be a meeting between #25 Navy and East Carolina. The Midshipmen are coming off a big upset of Houston, effectively crashing any thin hopes they had of getting into the playoffs. ECU has lost their last four games, but will get a small break. Thanks to the antics of Hurricane Matthew wreaking havoc on the east coast, this game has been rescheduled for November 19.
That will move us to the lone Friday night game, which will see Duke traveling to No. 7 Louisville. The Cardinals were knocked off by Clemson on October 1, which dropped them down in the rankings. It’s the lone mark on their record this year, as they head into a favorable matchup with the Blue Devils at home. They’re actually a big favorite, with the line listed at Louisville -34 on Monday afternoon. ESPN will kickoff the broadcast at 6:00 P.M.
As noted, the Houston Cougars suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday, leaving many to wonder if they were actually the playoff-caliber team they were touted to be going into that game against Navy. Now the Golden Hurricane will hit the road out of Tulsa and head into Houston to take on the now 13th-ranked Cougars. Tulsa will be looking to pull off an even bigger upset, while Houston fights to keep a decent spot in the rankings. ESPN2 will carry the game on Saturday night at 6:00 P.M.
A big SEC battle goes down in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday, as the 22nd-ranked Razorbacks will host No. 12 Ole Miss. Neither team has had a spectacular season so far, with both teams only at two wins apiece. Arkansas has a small advantage in the running category, but this will likely be an evenly-matched game. ESPN will have coverage at 6:00 P.M.
The big game of the week will be a Big Ten explosion in Madison, Wisconsin, as No. 2 Ohio State will visit No. 8 Wisconsin. Heisman hopeful J.T. Barrett has torched defenses this year for the Buckeyes, completing 79 of 123 passes for 15 touchdowns. Both teams are currently sitting with a 4-1 record, but Ohio State is an 11-point favorite. It doesn’t help any causes for Wisconsin that Ohio State is also putting up an average of 53 points per game. So they’ll need to be on their game come Saturday night. ABC will be the host station and will be on the air at 7:00 P.M.
There is also a late game on Saturday night. Undefeated and 15th-ranked Boise State will play host to Colorado State. On paper, this should be a fairly cruise control game for the Broncos. They’ve had one game where they’ve scored less than 31 points, and are putting up nearly 500 yards of offense per game. Colorado State is 3-3 and could get a big boost with an upset in Boise. ESPN2 will have the broadcast at 9:15 P.M.
