Lucifer season 2 episode 8 recap: Trip to Stabby Town
Lucifer returns with “Trip to Stabby Town.” Azrael’s sword has gone missing and people are being stabbed all around Los Angeles. Lucifer must find the blade to stop the murders before it’s too late.
A woman riding a bike runs into a man dressed in black. He chases her, and then he stabs her to death.
Lucifer tries to find out what the symbolism is behind the sandwich that Chloe made him. All Linda can do is ask how Lucifer tortured men like Hitler. Lucifer wants to talk about the sandwich, but he’s glad he didn’t lose her friendship. Linda says that Maze gave her some clarity, but then she jumps right back into questions about her uncle.
Later, as Chloe and Lucifer arrive at the crime scene, Lucifer confesses that he thinks he broke his therapist. Dan is there and he explains that the victim, Maddy, was stabbed 19 times. Ella runs up and says the scene was captured in a photo. Lucifer takes one look at the blade and realizes he knows the murder weapon.
Lucifer goes to the forest with Amenadiel and Maze. Uriel’s grave has been opened up, and Azrael’s sword is gone. Apparently the sword makes humans want to kill people. Lucifer knows they need to find the sword, and Amenadiel is intrigued by Lucifer’s sense of responsibility. He’s doing it because he knows that the blade could kill any of them, which is why Chloe can’t be involved.
Lucifer goes to Ella and wants her help. He’s willing to do anything in return, but when she tells him what she wants, he looks shocked. Chloe spots them talking and pauses before walking away. He brings her to the grave and asks her to investigate the side. She spots something that was burned at the site and says she will work on it.

Chloe and Lucifer go to a spa where Maddy worked and the woman there is completely obsessed with their guru. When Lucifer asks too many questions, he cites a quote from Chloe, but Chloe never said it. Perhaps Ella said it. Chloe mentions that he has been spending a lot of time with Ella.
Ella has some news for Lucifer. She was able to piece together to pieces of paper they found, and they’re a map on letterhead from a local law firm. Lucifer realizes where it’s from and he runs out. It happens that the letterhead is from Charlotte’s office.
Charlotte read all of her law books in one weekend, and she also taught her husband new tricks. Lucifer is pleased that she’s having fun, but someone stole Azrael’s blade. She admits that she had about 12 people seek it out, and she says she’s trying to get their father’s attention. She says she wanted to mourn with Him about Uriel’s death, but so far it hasn’t captured his attention. Lucifer says that humans are dying as a result. She doesn’t understand why Lucifer is so attached to these creatures. He threatens to send Maze after her.
Chloe calls a suspect while Dan complains that his pudding is gone. She teases him as Ella walks by and Dan suspects that she might be jealous of Ella’s relationship with him. Lucifer arrives and almost catches Chloe talking to Dan about him. Lucifer has his own list of suspects and points to their landlord, who was upset at how his parking place kept getting taken. Lucifer calls Amenadiel in advance and he and Maze search the office. The blade isn’t there, but Maze is upset that Amenadiel’s mother is the one who is causing all of these problems.
Lucifer tries to keep Chloe from going upstairs, but it doesn’t matter. She spots a bloody handprint in the studio and they find landlord Duncan’s body, along with several people in the yoga class.
Chloe says the murders don’t make sense, but Ella jumps in and explains how it could happen. She uses Lucifer to pose, which catches Chloe’s eye. As it turns out, Ella might be right. And Jensen Glory, the yoga guru, is the main suspect. Chloe explains the situation to Dan, who wonders if Jensen Glory is a cult leader.
Lucifer goes back to Linda and asks about why he cares so much about the humans being killed. Linda is still hung up on the fact that Azrael is Lucifer’s sister. He gets a text from Chloe that they have Jensen in custody.
Lucifer arrives at headquarters as Chloe interrogates Jensen Glory. Lucifer wants to know what he wants and it turns out that Glory is obsessed with food. He’s wearing a corset because he gained weight and doesn’t want his followers to know. That means he wasn’t at the studio.

Amenadiel and Maze show Lucifer the Pop Tarts they found at Jensen’s house. Maze figured they’re doing him a favor by taking them. Ella shows up and says that the dead landlord’s shoe matches the print at Lucifer’s grave site, meaning the cases are linked. Lucifer begs her to have faith in him while they finish this case. Chloe shows up just as Ella asks Lucifer for a hug, and she tells him that Jensen’s alibi checks out and that Corrina might be the one who has the blade.
When Lucifer shows up he finds Corrina standing over Jensen’s body. She doesn’t know what happened. When Chloe and the police show up Lucifer steps in and says that she killed Jensen in self defense. Lucifer notices that the sword is missing, and he goes outside to find that Dan has it. Dan is furious because Lucifer broke up his marriage. Dan slices Lucifer across the stomach and blames Lucifer for stealing his pudding. Lucifer says his marriage was on the rocks before he met Chloe, and Dan was already doing bad things at work. Lucifer sees that Dan is fighting the blade, and he manages to get it away from him. Dan has no memories of what happened.
Back at the station Chloe says the blade is now missing. She also says that his relationship with Ella is none of her business but he’s crossing lines. He assures her that there is nothing going on with Ella, and he smiles when he sees how relieved she is.
Lucifer says that he wants to go back to therapy, and Linda eventually agrees that she understands what’s going on with Lucifer and she can still work with him. “The Doctor is in,” she says.
Ella gets her favor from Lucifer. She wants him to go to church with him because she has been thinking he needs some kind of guidance. So her favor is really to help him. When Lucifer spots an attractive woman going into the church, he acquiesces.
Back at his apartment, Lucifer tells Amenadiel that he wants to keep the blade away from their mother. Charlotte shows up and says that the carnage stopped too soon and that won’t get their father’s attention. Lucifer points out that human carnage has never gotten his father’s attention. Charlotte antagonizes Lucifer to the point that Azrael’s blade starts smoldering in Lucifer’s hand. Lucifer doesn’t want to see people get hurt anymore. In a surprise twist, Amenadiel agrees with Charlotte and supports her. They leave together, which leaves Lucifer alone and confused.
