Army(-10.5) vs. North Texas at Dallas, TX(5) :
Army(7-5):
Wins: at Temple(28-13), vs. Rice(31-14), at UTEP(66-14), vs. Lafayette(62-7), at Wake Forest(21-13), vs. Morgan State(60-3), vs. Navy(21-17)
Losses: at Buffalo(20-23), at Duke(6-13), vs. North Texas(18-35), vs. Air Force(12-31), vs. Notre Dame(6-44)
Record vs. bowl teams: 3-2
Army relied on a strong defense and a tough option run game this season. Edgar Poe had nearly half the receiving yards of the entire team, so if Army needs to throw, you know who they are targeting. The Black Knights ran for nearly 4,000 yards this season, so it’s no secret what their plan is.
North Texas(5-7, 3-5 Conference USA):
Wins: vs. Bethune-Cookman(41-20), at Rice(42-35), vs. Marshall(38-21), at Army(35-18), vs. Southern Mississippi(29-23)
Losses: vs. SMU(21-34), at Florida(0-32), vs. Middle Tennessee State(13-30), at UTSA(17-31), vs. Louisiana Tech(24-45), at Western Kentucky(7-45), at UTEP(24-52)
Record vs. bowl teams: 2-5
As RB Jeffrey Wilson goes, so does the Mean Green. Freshman Mason Fine relinquished the job to Alabama transfer Alec Morris in the Western Kentucky game. Morris led them to a huge win over Southern Miss, but he may have a short leash in the rematch.
Prediction:
So, let me get this straight: the Mean Green beat Army in West Point by 17, but are double digit dogs in what is practically a home game? What am I missing? I know Army turned it over five times, and that likely wont happen again. I also think that Army is getting a little too much credit for beating Navy. Army’s defensive line got pushed around by the Mean Green in the first game. There will be a lot of green in the stands with Denton only about a half hour away from this game. I will be surprised if the Mean Green don’t win outright again.
Pick: North Texas
