The Nike SB Dunk High x “Black Sheep” Is The Latest Greatest Sneaker Release
By Tim Ryan
The latest in the ever-evolving collection of the Nike SB Dunk comes from the creative minds at Black Sheep, a skate shop based in North Carolina.
Officially dubbed the Nike SB x Black Sheep “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing” Dunk High, the shoe — as described by the creators themselves — features premium materials and classic heritage colors on the outside, but also pack some special hidden surprises on the outside and underneath.
More from Black Sheep:
"The shoes feature a “Summit White” upper in a premium, “vintage” textured suede providing a subtle reference to sheep’s wool. A white tongue and white leather Nike Swoosh continue the clean, tonal look while adding just the right amount of material contrast. The stark white upper is offset by a blacked out midsole, with an eye catching red contrast stitching and outsole. Black and red Nike labeling on the tongue complete the classic look."
In short, it’s an extremely stylish sneaker as it is, but let’s get to those aforementioned hidden gems.
Most notably, the shoe uniquely features a white “scratch off” swoosh that is purposely designed to rub away after lots of skating or wear and tear to reveal a hidden graphic of “menacing wolf fangs.”
Personally, I’d do my very best to prevent those fangs from ever making their way to the forefront, but that’s just me. I always lean clean.
Additionally, the insoles feature a graphic of a red-eyed wolf with bloody fangs that will absolutely stare directly through your soul each time you put on the shoes.
No, seriously. This wolf isn’t screwing around.
Consider yourself officially warned.
The hype for this sneaker release has also been pretty unique, as it was bestowed with quite possibly the creepiest promo video ever made for a shoe.
Be sure to pump up the volume before hitting play, especially if there’s someone in the room unprepared for one very pissed off sneaker:
To be honest, I would still take this on repeat all day, any day over the highly irritating Carolina Panthers/Penn State “growl” that both teams blare throughout the stadium after every 3-yard gain.
But back to the shoes. They retail for $110, which really isn’t that bad when compared to other releases. And it’s not as if this is some dressed down, plain offering.
In fact, it’s the complete opposite. So at that price, it feels like a steal.
They can be all yours at Black Sheep on Saturday, January 7: In store at 10am EST; online at noon.
They will also become available at Nike on Thursday, January 12 at 10am EST.
However, if you insist on having bloody-looking shoelaces that feature silver fangs, you’ll have no choice but to go the deluxe route and pay $125 at Black Sheep.
Whatever works, my friends.
But actually, the fangs are pretty badass.
Just do you, man.
