Big South Tournament 2017 Printable Bracket
A printable 2017 Big South Tournament bracket to follow which team wins to stay alive in March Madness
Throughout the years, we’ve seen several teams out of the Big South make at least a whimper in March Madness and the NCAA Tournament. There have been several upsets or near-upsets that have happened, even with the conference champion often being the much lower seed. We could be in store for more of the same this season as the 2017 Big South Tournament tips off on Tuesday.
As far as the favorites go for the 2017 Big South Tournament, it truthfully comes down to two teams. The Winthrop Eagles enter the tourney as the No. 1 seed after going 15-3 in the conference and 23-6 overall on the season. Led by guards Keon Johnson and Xavier Cooks, Winthrop can score with any team in the country on their best night and hopes to get hot at the right time.
Just behind the Eagles, though, are the UNC Asheville Bulldogs. The Bulldogs also finished 15-3 in the conference, but with a 23-8 overall record to only earn the No. 2 seed in the Big South Tournament. Guard Ahmad Thomas is a big-time player with the potential to become a darling of the college hoops postseason. He can score from all over and do it efficiently, which he’ll obviously look to do in tourney play.
Teams such as the Liberty Flames and Gardner-Webb Bulldogs are potential dark horses in the tournament, but sit behind UNCA and Winthrop.

Certainly anything can happen at this time of year, but it’d be a shocker to see any team other than Winthrop or UNC Asheville emerge as the champion out of the Big South. Either way, those two teams could be dangerous come the NCAA tourney.
