Lance Stephenson probably wishes he could get a do over on this one

Lance Stephenson is known for two things in his NBA career. That time he blew into LeBron James’ ear during the Eastern Conference Finals, and his sick handles. Stephenson is a tall guy, but that’s never stopped him from putting the ball down on the floor and crossing up defenders whenever possible. He’s become so well known for it that Jalen Rose started singing “Lance n make ’em dance” when watching him play.

Tonight, Lance tried to make ’em dance as he’s done so many times before. He put the ball down on the floor, put those handles of his to work, and then he drove towards the basket. However, the results of his dancing were not what he’s used to. Instead of dropping his defender to the floor, Stephenson crossed up himself resulting in a goofy-looking faceplant.

Yikes. This is not one of Stephenson’s greater moments and probably a highlight that he wishes he could get back. It will only get worse as his goof is played on every highlight show. Shaqtin a Fool on TNT, The Highlight that Wasn’t on The Starters, and this blog post on FanSided. Since it’s Stephenson someone will take a screenshot of his faceplant and photoshop it next to silly images, because he’s the ultimate meme NBA player. Calling it now. Someone is going to edit the highlight where Stephenson himself is the one that pushes himself down. They’ll use the image from when he blew into James ear and it will get over 10 thousand retweets. Feel free to take this idea.

This is the most curmudgeon statement in the history of basketball, but this really didn’t feel that funny. It’s a player slipping and falling down, but because it’s Lance Stephenson it’s going to grow into a giant meme. Let the internet cook, but sometimes it can be predicable.
