There’s been one constant in women’s college basketball for quite some time. The UConn Huskies under Geno Auriemma have simply been insurmountable more often than not. This season, they became the first college basketball team—men’s or women’s—to win 100-straight games. That streak now sits at 107 after the regular season and conference tournament. So it wasn’t a surprise when they were announced as the No. 1 overall seed in the 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket.

UConn is clearly the favorites in the tournament, which is how things tend to work out after 107-straight wins. Led by guards Kia Nurse, Gabby Williams and Katie Lou Samuelson, this Huskies team has reportedly been one of the most challenging for Auriemma to push to be their best. Of course, they’ve succeeded in that challenge with a 32-0 record in the tournament.

Joining the UConn on the No. 1-line for the 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket are the Baylor Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and South Carolina Gamecocks. All of these teams are terrific and battle-tested in their own right, but the only question is if they can actually get over the hump and beat the Huskies when it comes to tournament time.

One team that you have to watch is the Washington Huskies and Kelsey Plum. She’s the best player in the country and can take over in a flash with her offensive prowess. That’s what tourney time is all about, so they could be a potential dark horse. Until further notice, though, the 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket still belongs to UConn.
