All eyes will be on how Northwestern, the darling of the college basketball world, will handle their first March Madness game against Vanderbilt.
If March Madness is your first college basketball game of the season, and you’re looking for a bandwagon to hop on, Northwestern is the perfect candidate. Not only are they an underdog story, which everyone loves, they’re an exciting team to watch. The son of Julia Louis-Dreyfus also plays for them, and she had an awesome reaction when she found out the Wildcats would go dancing. What’s not to love about them?
After clinching their tournament bid in the most improbable way possible, Northwestern comes into the field as the most talked-about eighth seed. However, that may be the perfect opportunity for Vanderbilt. The Commodores probably feel as though nobody’s talking about them, even though they’re a good team. They’re a No. 9 seed, and have some quality wins, including beating Iowa State and Florida three times.

Put all of that together, and Northwestern vs. Vanderbilt has the potential to be one of the best games of the first round. Because those two schools aren’t a big name, the game won’t be televised on CBS. It’s been confined to the Turner Family, as TBS will broadcast it.
