Highlights from Sunday’s East Regional Final between the No. 7 seed South Carolina Gamecocks and fourth-seeded Florida Gators.

The South Carolina Gamecocks facing off against the Florida Gators may not have been the NCAA Tournament Regional Final that everyone predicted a could weeks ago, but it was the one that we got on Sunday following amazing runs for both teams. When all was said and done, though, only one of these SEC programs would be able to advance.

When the final buzzer sounded, it was head coach Frank Martin and the Gamecocks who had earned the right to move on following a thrilling contest inside Madison Square Garden. This will be the first-ever appearance for Martin as a head coach and South Carolina as a program in the coveted Final Four field.

Leading the way for South Carolina was of course Sindarius Thornwell. The region’s MOP dropped in 26 points in the game, further showcasing just how valuable that he has been on this improbable run for South Carolina. Thornwell has burst onto the scene this year as one of the best college basketball players who’s not talked about enough, but in leading his team to the Final Four, that will be changing drastically as the week moves along.

With South Carolina’s win, we now know one-half of the Final Four slate on Saturday. It will be the Gamecocks taking on the Gonzaga bulldogs, who also clinched their first-ever trip to the Final Four on Saturday. If someone had told you before the season that South Carolina and Gonzaga would be one of the Final Four matchups, they would have told you that you were crazy. But, that’s the pure beauty of March Madness.
