Gonzaga will play for a national title on Monday

For the first time in school history, the Gonzaga Bulldogs will play for a NCAA Tournament championship on Monday night. The Bulldogs defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks, 77-73, in the first game of the Final Four on Saturday.

Junior guard Nigel Williams-Goss led the way for Gonzaga with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, six assists and five rebounds. Freshman phenom Zach Collins added 14 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks off the bench. P.J. Dozier’s 17 points were a team high for the Gamecocks.

As usual, Twitter came through with plenty of great reactions to the game. CBS Sports analyst Seth Davis followed through on his March tradition:

While Jon Rothstein made sure to remind everyone of the Bulldogs record:

Gonzaga fans were obviously elated with the result, with reactions varying from calling it one of the greatest days to screaming like a little girl:

Collins also earned plenty of shoutouts across the social media network for his breakout performance. The big man is the latest McDonald’s All American to put on a show in the Final Four:

Not everyone was a fan of the Bulldogs, though, as a few fans expressed their displeasure with the win:

There were even some responses to Gonzaga’s late foul. Twitter has become a bastion of support for fouling when up three late in a game and when the Bulldogs’ Josh Perkins did just that, most people were happy. Except for this South Carolina fan:

Other folks were simply happy to take refuge in the existence of South Carolina outside of March:

Not every fan of the Gamecocks was distraught, thought. Most of them seemed happy that the team was able to make a surprising run to the Final Four as a No. 7 seed who upset team after team to get to Phoenix:

This was a heck of a start to the Final Four and as usual, Twitter delivered a great response.
