Baseball is filled with highlight-worthy plays, but few are StatCast worthy. A new MLB centerfielder proved the latter against the Cardinals.

Trivia: Who played centerfield for the Chicago Cubs in 2016? To quote The Rock, “It doesn’t matter who played centerfield for the Cubs in 2016!!” He is gone. The ball hit by Cardinals Matt Adams was not.

This year, Albert Almora is the Cubs’ centerfielder. An MLB Top 100 prospect, he is known for his defense. Well, now we understand why.

The rookie Almora played the ball about as perfectly as possible. StatCast showed that he ran approximate 15 MPH with a 96.1 percent route efficiency rating. Impressive.

It is the first such catch in Almora’s MLB career, for a team that did not witness a home run-robbing catching in 2016. Furthermore, the ball would be a home run 92 percent of the time, according to StatCast.

It saved a run. It saved the game. And it set Twitter on fire.

Several people took to Twitter with the caption “Take a picture, it lasts longer.”

Then, there were these two fitting ones.

Dexter Fowler, the answer to the trivia question above, had a highlight moment as well. In the top of the 8th, Fowler made a leaping catch in deep center to save extra bases. It was….decent.

Safe to Almore won this one though.
