Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook continued his dominant season on Tuesday. He tallied his 41st triple-double of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Ironically, Russell Westbrook tied Oscar Robertson’s single season triple-double record Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, the very team the “Big O” played for from 1970-74. Westbrook sure has been on a one-man mission this season.

Westbrook is currently averaging a triple-double for the season at 31.9 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game, and 10.4 assists per game.

Tuesday night, he finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists in only 27 minutes.

Although the Thunder have struggled at times this season, Westbrook has not lost a step since losing another superstar when Kevin Durant signed a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors.

If anything, the loss of Durant put a chip on Westbrook’s shoulder. Westbrook is well on his way to being the second player in NBA history to complete an entire season averaging a triple-double, the first time since the 1961-62 season.

Westbrook has played phenomenal and tough; he has appeared and started in all 76 games this season, averaging 34.8 minutes per game. He has been very outspoken towards the media on how he feels about other superstars around the NBA resting their players on certain game nights. He made it clear that he was a competitor during an interview, and it is showing on the court for sure.

The Thunder have five games remaining this season. Westbrook’s road to his triple-double average season continues on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. He notched a triple-double the last time the Thunder played Memphis in early February, so he should have no problem keeping his streak alive.

A lot of debates have been going around on social media discussing who should be the 2016-17 MVP. Westbrook’s name has been mentioned plenty of times along with Houston’s James Harden and Cleveland’s LeBron James. Westbrook’s record-breaking season will surely create a major impact on the voters’ final decision.
