Curt Hawkins issued an open challenge on WWE SmackDown and gave until the count of 10, and a Perfect 10 answered as Tye Dillinger debuted
Tye Dillinger briefly made an appearance on the WWE main roster in January. In a great spot during the Royal Rumble match, The Perfect 10 came out as the 10th entrant in the Rumble. However, he’d been back at NXT since and hadn’t been seen near the main roster. A long-time veteran of NXT and even FCW before that, the question was if he would ever get called up. Finally that was answered on WWE SmackDown after WrestleMania 33.
Curt Hawkins came down to the ring and, feeling mighty full of himself, issued an open challenge to anyone in the back. Not wanting to waste any time, he gave everyone in the back to the count of 10 to answer the call. Dillinger didn’t wait for the count, though.
As soon has Hawkins uttered the number, out came the NXT veteran to a tremendous pop. If you thought that the crowd at Full Sail loved joining in on the “10” chants, it was nothing compared to the crowd in Orlando for WWE SmackDown. They accepted the debuting superstar with open arms:
The #Perfect10 just may prove to be the perfect storm as it takes the fight to @TheCurtHawkins on #SDLive! @WWEDillinger pic.twitter.com/DgbGltZREC

Given the situation, it was far from surprising that Dillinger went over in the match, picking up the win over Hawkins. That’s basically a foregone conclusion when you have a debut as such, though.
Next: Best match from every WrestleMania in history
What’s going to be interesting, though, is what WWE has planned for Dillinger moving forward. He obviously has a gimmick that resonates with the fans. Now the trick is keeping him fresh and hot and finding the right type of feud for him to start with. Hawkins probably isn’t the one to do that, so seeing where he goes from here should be intriguing.
