OddsShark has released their updated Stanley Cup odds. Who are the favorites to win?

The Stanley Cup playoffs are coming up. They start the week beginning April 10. While the schedule hasn’t gotten out yet, the final NHL games are played on Sunday. So it’s reasonable to expect the initial postseason games to start on either Tuesday or Wednesday. At the latest, Thursday should be the start day. OddShark has released their latest odds to win the championship. These odds are as of April 7.

Washington Capitals +450
Chicago Blackhawks +550
Pittsburgh Penguins +600
Minnesota Wild +700
Columbus Blue Jackets +1200
Montreal Canadiens +1200
New York Rangers +1400
San Jose Sharks +1600
Anaheim Ducks +1800
Edmonton Oilers +2000
Calgary Flames +2000
Ottawa Senators +2000
St. Louis Blues +2800
Toronto Maple Leafs +2800
Boston Bruins +2800
Nashville Predators +3300

It should come as no surprise the Blackhawks and Capitals have the best odds to win. Washington the best team in the NHL and they’re playing better as of late. That being said, Chicago is obviously a betting favorite, having won three championships with this group.

If you’re looking for a dark horse, the Flames are very tempting. The payout would be huge if they win. Also, the Western Conference, namely the Pacific Division, isn’t overly strong. It’s not too hard to see the Flames, who might have the deepest team in the Pacific, coming out of it on top.

The Canadiens and Rangers each have very tempting odds as well. Since the Atlantic Division bracket is much easier than the Metropolitan Division bracket, whoever emerges from it will likely face a tired team. Whoever wins the first round matchup between New York and Montreal will have a good chance of making it to at least the Eastern Conference Finals.
