On Wednesday, the best time of the year begins. The 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs are upon us. It’s the most wonderful time of the year for hockey fans. 16 teams enter the postseason, but only one will lift Lord Stanley at the end.

All the fun begins on Wednesday, when five of the eight playoff series get under way. Brackets are without a doubt the best way to enjoy the NHL playoffs. Whether it’s March Madness, hockey or your favorite Friends character, brackets let you compete against your coworkers and friends. Wednesday’s Schedule

Wednesday’s actions will start with the Montreal Canadiens squaring off against the New York Rangers. This matchup should be a very close one, as the Habs have the size advantage while the blue shirts have the speed advantage. The Ottawa Senators will also begin their first round series against the Boston Bruins. On the Metropolitan Division quarter of the bracket, the reigning champion Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Western Conference will see the Edmonton Oilers square off against the San Jose Sharks. On the Central Division’s quarter of the bracket, the Minnesota Wild will face the St. Louis Blues.

Thursday’s Schedule

On Thursday, the remaining three series will start. The series to watch will be the first round tilt between the top seed Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s a battle between the team of the present and the team of the future. The Chicago Blackhawks will host the Nashville Predators for the second time in the past three postseasons. Finally, the Anaheim Ducks will host the Calgary Flames.
