DraftKings Late MLB Picks For April 11

We have ten evening games tonight with a plethora of equally priced pitchers on the DraftKings board. It can be tough to separate these slates, but this also gives us the chance to use all of the hitters that we want without sacrificing quality pitching. Who are the best options tonight? Let’s hit the past stats!

More from DFS

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Check out this post

from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

How brave are you? Jered Weaver has held the current Rockies to just three hits in 30 at bats with only one run scored and eight strikeouts.

DraftKings
Apr 5, 2017; Arlington, TX, USA; Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels (35) throws a pitch in the first inning against the Cleveland Indians at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Mandatory Credit: Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Cole Hamels ($10,000): The current Angels roster is only hitting .220 against Hamels in 209 at bats with four homers and 15 runs scored. Those are decent numbers. Hamels hasn’t dominated the Angels by any means, but he does have a solid 43 strikeouts. Hamels also has solid win potential against Tyler Skaggs.

P: Lance Lynn ($6,300): Lynn looked good in his first start since October of 2015 against the Cubs. He should be good to going heading forward, as he threw 98 pitches in that game with no discomfort afterwards. That is good news since Lynn faces another tough offense in the Nationals, but it is one that he has held mostly in check. The Nats are hitting .241 against Lynn in 79 at bats, but they have only two homers and seven runs while striking out 19 times. That is great past stats for this price range.

C: J.T. Realmuto ($3,500): The Marlins have hit Bartolo Colon pretty hard, though not really very often. I still like a Marlins stack against Colon here though. Realmuto begins the stack with a 9-21(.429) career mark with four doubles, a homer, and two RBI against Colon.

1B: Freddie Freeman ($4,400): Freeman is two for three with a homer and two RBI against Dan Straily. Freeman has already homered twice this year, but his only RBIs are himself. The rest of the team isn’t getting on base much. However, Straily’s struggles in the opener have me looking to Freeman for another long ball.

2B: Dee Gordon ($4,100): Gordon is 10-29(.345) with a double, a homer, and three RBI against Colon. When he is on base that often, it gives him more opportunity to use his speed on the bases. Colon isn’t as quick to home as he used to be, so Gordon could wreak some havoc when he is on base.

3B: Jake Lamb ($3,300): Lamb hit a three run homer against Jeff Samardzija on April 6th. He is now 4-10 with two walks, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI agianst Samardzija. Shark struggled on April 6th in the desert. He could do marginally better at home, but I still like Lamb in this one.

SS: Carlos Correa ($4,500): Correa is 2-5 with a walk and a solo homer against Ariel Miranda. The Cuban import has racked up strikeouts against Houston, but when they get a hold of one, it doesn’t land for a while. Look for more exposure to this game in the second lineup.

OF: Giancarlo Stanton ($4,500): Stanton completes the Marlins stack in grand fashion. He is 6-15 with a walk, a double, two homers, and five RBI against Bartolo Colon. I wouldn’t be opposed to using Christian Yelich or Justin Bour tonight either. They also have good career numbers against Colon.

OF: Mookie Betts ($5,100): Betts is back and good to go, which is good news for us DFS players. Betts is 4-9 with three walks, two homers, and three RBI against Dylan Bundy. A lot of Red Sox have hit Bundy well, so stacking Red Sox could be a good strategy as well.

OF: Dexter Fowler ($4,300): Dexter Fowler is an impressive 10-20 against fellow lefthander Gio Gonzalez. He has a walk, two doubles, a triple, a homer, and three RBI in those 20 at bats. The rest of the Cardinals have done fairly well against Gio as well, but not nearly as well as Fowler.

DraftKings
Mar 31, 2017; Montreal, Quebec, CAN; Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon (50) pitches against the Toronto Blue Jays during the second inning at Olympic Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Jameson Taillon ($8,400): The current Reds are hitting a respectable .289 against Taillon so far, but only Adam Duvall has really done any damage to him. Taillon was very good in the opener against a really good Boston team. The Reds have a solid offense, but it isn’t up there with Boston. Taillon should have a nice game in his 2017 home debut.

P: J.A. Happ ($8,000): The Brewers have quite a bit of right handed power, but that also brings the potential for a lot of strikeouts. There is only one Brewer that has hit Happ well in limited experience, and he is in this lineup as well. Happ has 13 strikeouts in 51 at bats against this current team. There is a lot of upside here.

C: Sandy Leon ($2,900): How is Leon still this cheap? He is hitting a robust .438 to start the season with a homer and five RBI. He is also 2-5 with a homer and a pair of RBI against Dylan Bundy. Leon looks like an absolute steal tonight, and is the only player I considered using in both lineups besides Betts.

1B: Albert Pujols ($3,800): Pujols is a disappointing 6-35(.171) against Cole Hamels, but he has a walk, a double, three homers, and seven RBI against him from their heydays in the National League. This seems like a cheap price to take a shot on Pujols, who has already homered twice this year.

2B: Daniel Murphy ($4,500): Murphy is a healthy 6-17(.353) against Lance Lynn. He has failed to take him deep, but Murphy does have a walk, two doubles, and three RBI against him. I like Murphy because he has started the year on a tear, hitting .480 with a homer and four RBI already. Look for that to continue.

3B: Nolan Arenado ($5,200): This pick isn’t based off of anything other than Arenado being a stud and Jered Weaver pitching at Coors Field. It was Yasiel Puig that was his undoing in his 2017 debut. I’m thinking it will be Arenado tonight.

SS: Asdrubal Cabrera ($3,800): Cabrera is 6-14(.429) with three walks, a double, and two solo homers against Clay Buchholz from their time in the American League. Buchholz actually has pretty good numbers against the Mets he has faced. He is worth using if you are going with a bunch of stud hitters.

OF: Ryan Braun ($4,300): Braun is 9-28(.321) with two walks, two doubles, a triple, three homers, and nine RBI against J.A. Happ. I will hope for a homer from Braun, and ten strikeouts from Happ.

OF: George Springer ($4,100): Springer has two hits and a walk in six at bats against Ariel Miranda. Both hits are home runs. I like those odds, and the price is definitely right for this one!

OF: Carlos Gonzalez ($5,000): Again, Jered Weaver in Coors Field. I’m tempted to use the entire Rockies lineup. Bryce Harper has taken Lance Lynn deep, but I will go to CarGo instead. There is a ton of potential in Colorado tonight.
