DraftKings Late MLB Picks For April 30

Eight of the games are in the main DraftKings tournament. There are less great pitching options available than in the afternoon slate. Is there a bargain to be found here as well? Let’s check out some stats!

More from DFS

The money line was down a ways at 116.4 DraftKings points. One of my lineups missed due to poor hitting. The other was in comfortably due to Ivan Nova and my Rockies Stack.

There was a tie at the top at 222.75 DraftKings points. They had Nova and Yu Darvish to go with Matt Kemp and Wil Myers. Those were the keys to a winning lineup!

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P:  Ty Blach ($6,600): Most metrics favor Blach over any other pitcher tonight. That’s how slim the picking are. That the best option is a guy with one start this year, and a 4.22 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched. Why the love? The Padres are awful against left handed pitching so far, which is kind of surprising with all of the young right handed power in that lineup. I don’t have a better idea, so I’ll drink the Kool-Aid with the metrics crowd here.

P:  J.C. Ramirez ($5,400): The Rangers are only hitting .231 in 26 at bats against Ramirez with just one run and three strikeouts. The metrics don’t really like Ramirez because of the left handed power in the Texas lineup, but I will take the only pitcher of the night with a good history against his opponent. Why?

Well…..I’m stacking the Arizona/Colorado game. Like all of it. I am pulling the Mark Twain approach of putting all my eggs in one basket and watching that basket! That game easily has the two worst pitchers going. Patrick Corbin is still Patrick Corbin. I trust the Rockies’ .317 average against him in 101 at bats more than this season’s 2.79 ERA. His numbers were bad until he faced the Padres twice, and we know their struggles against lefties.

C:  Dustin Garneau ($3,600):

1B:  Paul Goldschmidt ($5,500):

2B:  DJ LeMahieu ($4,500): LeMahieu is 10-27(.370) with two walks, two triples, two homers, five runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Corbin.

3B: Jake Lamb ($4,700):

SS:  Trevor Story ($5,100): Story is 2-4 with two walks, a homer, three runs scored, and two RBI against Corbin.

OF: Charlie Blackmon ($5,400): Yes, all of these lefties are really hitting Corbin this hard. Blackmon is 7-18(.389) with a double, a homer, four runs scored, and two RBI.

OF: Carlos Gonzalez ($5,000): CarGo is 5-16(.312) with a walk, a homer, and five RBI off of Corbin.

OF: David Peralta ($4,000): Peralta destroys right handed pitching. He is hitting .326 so far this season, and is making up for an injury-marred 2016.
