MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel May 5h
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 13 games, with Arizona (5.6), Colorado (5.5), Baltimore (4.9), and Boston (4.8), holding the best projected team totals. With expensive pitchers and high-priced batters at Coors Field in play tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on DraftKings and FanDuel.
DraftKings MLB Values:

Andrew Benintendi – BOS (OF) – $3800
The Sox will head to Minnesota to take on the Twins, in a game in which they have a projected team total of 4.9 runs. Andrew Benintendi should bat second and will benefit from facing a righty. Benintendi is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .375 wOBA split and a .199 ISO split. Benintendi recent fantasy scoring has taken a nose dive over the last four games, but it’s not necessarily indicative of how well he’s been batting.
Over the last 15 days, Benintendi’s batted ball distance is up 18 feet, his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 6%, over his yearly averages. This shows that even though his plate appearances haven’t resulted in successful fantasy production, he’s batting well and may just be on the wrong side of variance.
Michael Conforto – NYM (OF) – $3700
Michael Conforto is another lefty that will have the benefit of facing righty pitcher tonight. Conforto holds a .341 wOBA split and a .230 ISO split against righties. Conforto is severely under priced on DraftKings relative to FanDuel, and should offer value batting if he leads off. You may be able to grab Conforto at very low ownership if people shy away from the weather in New York tonight.
FanDuel MLB Values:

Charlie Blackmon – COL (OF) – $4500
While Charlie Blackmon is by no means cheap, nor contrarian, he’s still a better play on FanDuel than DraftKings, at $4500. Blackmon obviously benefits from a projected team total of 5.5 runs and batting in the lead off spot.

He’ll face the righty, Zack Greinke tonight which should bode well for the left hander. He currently holds a .417 wOBA split and a .292 ISO split against righties. Note that it should a bit warmer than usual in Denver tonight, with temperatures in the 70’s, so I’d expect this total to climb as we get closer to game time.
David Peralta – ARI (OF) – $4000
David Peralta is another outfielder that would benefit from both the warm conditions, and the hitter friendly ball park, Coors Field. Peralta has been held out of late with the flu, but should return tonight and hopefully bat second. If he does, he should provide value, as he’s much cheaper on FanDuel relative to DraftKings.
