Justin Turner is headed to the DL after straining his hamstring for the Dodgers. What is the fantasy fallout of the injury?

The first two months of the MLB season have been dominated by high-profile players that are currently, or have hit the DL at some point in 2017. Justin Turner now joins that list, as the Dodgers’ third baseman strained his hammy rounding third earlier this week. What is the fantasy fallout after the injury?

Justin Turner is having an intriguing season. The reborn slugger holds a .379 AVG/1 HR/17 RBI/.946 OPS line over 39 games. His .379 AVG leads the league and his .946 OPS is a career best, but the power outage is perplexing.

Turner’s batted ball data reads right along with his power seasons as well, 29% LD, 31% GB, 40% FB, 57% Med and 34% Hard contact rates in 2017. It just seems as though that Turner is just splitting gaps, 13 doubles this season, but the power will come at some point.

In terms of fantasy, Turner has still been productive even without the power. Therefore, owners will have to look for options that can provide numbers at least for the next ten days. Turner admitted that he has returned from this injury quickly before, but hamstrings are always tricky.

Those looking for options, players like Trevor Plouffe or Logan Morrison would provide the power numbers that Turner has been without. Plouffe is batting .405 over the last two weeks while adding in two homers and four RBI.

Morrison is only hitting .224 but with five homers and 14 RBI, and continues to be a steady power option with Tampa.

The Dodgers will likely look to Kike Hernandez and the returning Logan Forsythe to man third. Forsythe would be a solid add too if there were some owners who let him go after his injury.

Fantasy owners looked to Justin Turner as a lock for power production this season. While he is currently getting unlucky it seems in terms of the ball leaving the park, he is still squaring the ball up with ease. Hopefully, he is just down 10 days and gets right back in the groove of things.
