Janis Porzingis, Kristaps Porzingis’ brother and agent, met with Phil Jackson. The two sides didn’t accomplish much to set aside their differences.

Could the New York Knicks actually consider trading Kristaps Porzingis? While it may not have gotten to that point yet, the two parties are still at odds. After Kristaps Porzingis decided to express his displeasure with the organization and skip the Knicks exit meetings at the end of the regular season, Phil Jackson and the Knicks have to figure out a way to get their young rising star back on board.

As of now, Porzingis is in his native Latvia enjoying the offseason. The brother and agent of Kristaps Porzingis had a lengthy sit down with Phil Jackson in New York. According to the New York Daily News, Janis Porzingis didn’t get much accomplished.

Porzingis, 21, wants the Knicks to become organizationally excellent. Right now, New York is known as one of the more dysfunctional franchises in the NBA. Between the Charles Oakley incident, this year and Phil Jackson’s never-ending antics, the Knicks have become a circus of some sorts. Earlier this month, Janis Porzingis released a statement in respects to the expectations his brother has for the team.

"“Kris wants to stay in New York; he feels at home there. There is no question about it. The only thing he wants is for the Knicks to create an environment where he can develop and grow as a player and win,” Janis Porzingis said earlier this month. “If he were traded, he would play out his contract and head into free agency, where he can choose his own destiny.”"

If the situation between Porzingis and the Knicks isn’t resolved, a trade could be in order. In fairness, I’m not sure anyone knows what Phil Jackson is thinking at this point so it can’t be ruled out entirely. Then again, drafting Porzingis is the one thing Jackson has gotten right during his Knicks tenure so dealing him would be a last resort.

Kristaps Porzingis averaged 18.1 points and 7.3 rebounds. The 7-foot-3 stretch five is a valuable player that any team would be lucky to have.
