Domingo Santana is hot at the plate right now for the Brewers. But, should fantasy owners take another chance on him off the waiver wire?

Fantasy owners are no strangers to Domingo Santana. The young Brewers’ slugger has been a tantalizing talent since his days with the Astros, and owners have seen flashes of what he could potentially be if he ever put it all together. Unfortunately, due to injuries and ineffectiveness, it has prevented him from doing so. But, he has heated up at the dish as of late and starting to look the part once again.

Should fantasy owners make him a waiver wire add though? The short answer is, yes.

Santana is still amazingly only 24-years-old and has not lost the raw power that makes him so intriguing. He currently sits with a .264/6 HR/23 RBI/4 SB/.797 OPS line. The AVG, OPS and SB are all currently career highs, and his power and RBI rate are on pace to fly by his career bests.

The biggest change in Santana’s game is that he is making more contact at the plate and cutting his K rate. His 13% BB and 72% Contact rate are the best of his career as well. The power is still great, which always bodes well in Miller Park. His 24% LD, 28% FB, 54% Med and 29% Hard contact rates so far in 2017, are still solid rates.

With Ryan Braun out again, Santana will be one of those players leaned on to pick up the slack. He also happens to be on fire at the plate, posting a .300/2 HR/14 RBI/.879 OPS line over the last two weeks. He is still getting slotted near the middle of the lineup, and with the Brewers still possessing a decent supporting class, Santana shapes up to be in a good position to produce.

Domingo Santana remains a tantalizing player. He is off to a great start at the plate for the Brewers and the situation still remains a fantasy friendly climate. Owners have not had the chance to pick up Santana hitting better than he is right now, so now is the time to snag him off the wire.
