The Sacramento Kings are high on De’Aaron Fox. The teams appears to be willing to trade up in the draft to get the Kentucky point guard.

Here we go; The Sacramento Kings continue to prove why they are dysfunctional. Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox appears to be extremely high on the team’s wish list heading into the 2017 NBA Draft. The Kings are so enamored with Fox that they are willing to trade both of their lottery picks to get their man.

Chad Ford of ESPN wrote in his latest mock draft about Sacramento’s desires to draft Fox:

"“There’s talk inside the organization about combining picks Nos. 5 and 10 to move up in the draft to secure Fox. If they found a taker, that would be a high price to pay to move up two to three spots.Other options include Tatum, Jonathan Isaac and Smith. All three players fit a need for the Kings.”"

Selecting Fox would pair him with Buddy Hield in the Kings backcourt. Then again, it’s very possible the Kings don’t have to move up at all to draft him. With the Celtics expected to take Markelle Fultz, and the Lakers likely to draft Lonzo Ball, the Kings might get him regardless.

The Sixers would have to pass on Josh Jackson and Jayson Tatum while the Suns have a gluttony of guards and probably won’t take a point guard. For the Kings to consider dealing the No. 5 and No. 10 picks to move up for Fox only epitomizes the Kings dysfunctional ways.

Fox is regarded as the third best point guard prospect in the draft. The upside to drafting the Kentucky product is that he possessing elite athleticism but his shooting stroke is far from a sure thing. Fox, 6-foot-3, 187 pounds, only shot 24.6 percent from beyond the arc this past season.

If the Kings don’t come away with De’Aaron Fox, the 2017 NBA Draft is stacked with point guard prospects including Dennis Smith and Frank Ntilikina that may be available with the 10 overall pick.
