Now that Bob Stoops has retired at Oklahoma, let’s take a look at the 10 most memorable games that he has coached in.

It’s a changing of the guard in Norman, Oklahoma. Bob Stoops has resigned after 18 seasons and the offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley is taking over as head man.

According to the ex-Oklahoma coach himself, he wanted to “live life” and get away from coaching football. But don’t, fear Sooners’ fans, you’ll be in good hands with Lincoln Riley. The 33-year old, offensive-minded head coach will bring new life and energy to the team, while maintaining much-needed continuity.

Stoops has had an illustrious career at Oklahoma and has accomplished as much as a coach possibly can. 190 wins in his career. Nine wins in Bowl Games, including a BCS National Championship Game win in 2001. 10 different times the Sooners ended up with the Big 12 Championship.

He’s coached high-level NFL talent from RB Adrian Peterson to QB Sam Bradford, with other numerous players becoming successful at the next level.

The biggest knock has been Oklahoma’s disappearance in prime-time games. Although Stoops has won nine bowl games, he’s also lost nine during his career. Regardless of what you think of his ability to prepare his guys for the big moment, there have been many memorable games under his watch.

Here are the 10 most memorable games that Bob Stoops has coached in during the entirety of his career.

10. Oklahoma vs. Missouri – December 6, 2008

It was the Big 12 Championship Game, with NFL talent littered all over the field. It was Gary Pinkel’s Missouri Tigers taking on Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma Sooners in a battle for a spot in the BCS Championship Game. The Sooners were absolutely rolling teams the entire season, behind their NFL-ready QB Sam Bradford.

The Sooners came into the game as 17-point favorites, and to be honest, it didn’t even feel that close. Oklahoma was up 38-7 at the end of the first half and they were in complete cruise control after that. The Sooners ended up winning the game 61-21, behind Bradford’s 34-of-49 passing and 627 yards of total offense.

Although Oklahoma wasn’t able to win the BCS Championship that year, — it was the year of Tim Tebow — this game was a reminder of how dominant of an offensive team they were during this stretch.
