Jimmy Butler rumors: Bulls shopping him to either Cavaliers or Celtics
The trade rumors around Jimmy Butler continue to swirl, with now reports adding the Bulls are actively shopping him to either Cleveland or Boston.
There’s becoming less doubt that Jimmy Butler will still be a Chicago Bull when the season begins. In Chicago’s front office, there has always been an inkling to ship Butler so that he doesn’t walk out of the door for nothing in return.
It was reported on Monday that the Cleveland Cavaliers were putting together a three-team trade for Jimmy Butler, that likely involved Phoenix as the third team. But David Griffin was involved on those calls and he’s no longer the man running the show in Cleveland.
Butler was also tied to Boston earlier in the week, before the Celtics decided to ship their No. 1 overall pick to Philadelphia in exchange for some more assets. Now the report out of Chicago, from Vincent Goodwill, is that the Bulls are ‘actively shopping’ Jimmy Butler and actually want to move him before the end of the summer.
The report adds that the two most likely suitors for Butler’s services are Cleveland and Boston. A league executive adds “It’s either Boston or Cleveland but he’s going.” So more news on the Butler trade rumors are sure to come up with the NBA Draft set for Thursday night.

Fred Hoiberg and the Bulls were always amidst tension with Butler and they might not want to front him $40 million for an extension, if he were to make an All-NBA team. The Cavaliers would likely get a third team involved in a potential trade for Butler. The Celtics could use multiple of their seven first-round picks and grab him.
There are moves to made before the NBA Draft, but if you believe this report, Jimmy Butler will not be in Chicago by the time the season rolls around in September. Watch out for Cleveland and Boston as the most logical spots.
