In a steady stream of trade rumors leading up to the NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns held discussions with the Denver Nuggets regarding point guard Eric Bledsoe.

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, the Phoenix Suns engaged in trade talks that would send Bledsoe to Denver. In return, the Suns would receive Emmanuel Mudiay and the 13th overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft.

Eric Bledsoe’s name has been surrounded by trade rumors for years. Every season his name comes up, but the Suns can never finalize a deal with him.

Bledsoe had a career year in the 2016-2017 season. While the Suns were the worst team in the Western Conference, he was their single glimmer of hope. Bledsoe averaged 21.1 points, a career high. Additionally, he averaged 6.3 assists, another career high, and nearly five rebounds.

The 27-year-old Kentucky alum took to Twitter quickly after the rumor surfaced. He said “good luck fellas.” Once a lottery pick in his own right, he wishes luck to those hoping their dreams will come true tonight.

On the other hand, Emmanuel Mudiay’s second season in the NBA was a decline. he scored two points less per game (11), and earned just under four assists per game. The Suns might think he can have similar success that Bledsoe had in a Suns uniform.

The true prize of this package for the Suns would be the lottery pick. An additional first-round pick would do wonders as they try to rebuild their franchise. They currently have the fourth overall pick. Jayson Tatum has been rumored to be their favorite in the lead up to the NBA Draft.

The 2017 NBA Draft is set to begin Thursday at 7 pm ET on ESPN. It will be interesting to see if this rumor comes to fruition for the Suns who need to make moves if they plan to compete in the next couple seasons.
