Cody Rhodes responds to Daniel Bryan’s Ring of Honor title challenge
Daniel Bryan sent out a little challenge to new Ring of Honor World Champion Cody Rhodes, and it didn’t take long for the new champ to respond.
Cody Rhodes finally brought world title gold to the Rhodes family after 30 years, and now challengers are showing their interest from all over the place, including Daniel Bryan.
Bryan had sent out a tweet to congratulate Rhodes after he won the Ring of Honor World title on Friday night in Lowell, MA, but was also quick to throw a little jab and challenge at the new champ for September of 2018.
While a 462-day reign like that could be impossible, and the tweet was obviously a joke, fans everywhere showed their excitement for the potential super match. It may have been a troll, but people surely took notice, including the new champ.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated after his title win, Rhodes took the time to respond to Bryan’s tweet, and while not taking it too seriously, he did express interest in it actually happening.
“I don’t think it was a challenge, just fun,” Rhodes said. “Daniel Bryan remains one of my friends. Final Countdown would be a welcomed tune, even as a competitor. I have always looked up to Dan. It would be major, major box office for all involved.”

The two have faced off in a WWE ring before, so it wouldn’t be the first time they battle in their careers. However, with Bryan struggling to return to WWE, and Rhodes notoriously leaving the company to make this impressive indie run, it’d provide a fresh look at a match others have seen before. Add in the Ring of Honor title, and it’s a recipe for a masterpiece.
Now, enough with all the jokes and trolls, just make this dream title match happen somehow.
