DraftKings Late MLB Picks For July 6

There are seven night games tonight for the main DraftKings tournaments, and boy do we have some options for you! There are several high priced pitchers, and some that could be bargains for where their price sits. There are also enough cheap hitters to get a couple of these aces into your lineups. Which ones am I looking at? Let’s check out who is worth our time!

More from DFS

The money line last night was down a bit to 108.04. My lineup with Alex Wood and George Springer made it in. The other failed because of Mike Leake and the Nationals rainout taking away Ryan Zimmerman.

The winning lineup was all the way down to 191 DraftKings points. He faded Wood, instead going with Bauer and Ervin Santana so he could stack Royals and Marlins.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

PITTSBURGH, PA – MAY 30: Robbie Ray #38 of the Arizona Diamondbacks delivers a pitch in the first inning during the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on May 30, 2017 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Justin Berl/Getty Images) /

P: Chris Sale ($13,300): The Rays are hitting just .200 in 125 at bats against Sale with only one home run (a solo shot by Logan Morrison) and five runs to go with a staggering 46 strikeouts. The Rays can be dangerous, but they strike out a lot against non-elite pitchers. Tonight they get to face the elite, and it likely wont be pretty for the Rays.

P: Robbie Ray ($10,500): Ray has allowed the Dodgers to hit .281 against him in 96 at bats, but he has managed to limit most of the damage, allowing ten runs and four homers. Most are by one person, and it’s not who you think! What really has me using him over Hill is Ray’s stellar 1.32 ERA in seven road starts. Keep in mind that the has a 2.32 career ERA at Dodger Stadium in five starts. Most of the Dodgers damage against him came in Arizona.

C: Luis Torrens ($2,300): When rostering two aces, you need to have a cheap stack in there somewhere. Tonight’s comes from the Padres, who got six runs off of Trevor Bauer and the Cleveland bullpen last night. Tonight they get Josh Tomlin and his 6.55 home ERA. Torrens started over Austin Hedges last night because of a stiff neck. It seems reasonable to expect him to start again.

1B: Freddie Freeman ($4,400): I am paying up for Freeman because he is 11-36(.306) with two walks, four doubles, two homers, and 12 RBI in his career against Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez is riding a streak of seven straight quality starts, but the Braves are hitting .320 off of him in 153 career at bats. That should spell trouble for Gio, and the best part is that we get to reap the rewards of the depressed pricing that comes with facing a hot pitcher.

2B: Enrique Hernandez ($3,300): Regardless of how you feel about sending a hitter out there against your pitcher, Hernandez should be in your lineup somewhere tonight. He is 7-18(.389) wit three walks, a double, a triple, three homers, six runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Robbie Ray. For whatever reason, Kike hammers good left handed pitchers. Just ask Madison Bumgarner. Hell, I bet he even hits Clayton Kershaw hard in split-squad games!

3B: Cory Spangenberg ($3,500): Spangenberg has a homer and five RBI in his last five games. He is starting to pick it up this year since being handed the keys to third base for good. He isn’t known for his power, but he did hit one out last night.

SS: Dansby Swanson ($2,700): Don’t laugh. Swanson is 3-7 with two walks, a double, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI already against Gio Gonzalez. He may not be able to hit anyone else, but he has sure had Gio’s number.

OF: Matt Kemp ($3,400): Kemp is 7-19(.368) with three walks, a double, two homers, four runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Gonzalez. Kemp also has slugged nine of his 12 homers on the road, so SunTrust Park isn’t padding his stats any. Kemp is also a .272 career hitter with six homers and 22 RBI in 32 games at Nationals Park.

OF: Brian Goodwin ($3,300): Bryce Harper will be widely owned against Mike Foltynewicz tonight, and rightfully so. But for those of you that would rather spend on pitching, I present Goodwin. He is 3-5 with a double, a homer, and two RBI against Foltynewics already, and he will save you a cool $2,000.

OF: Matt Joyce ($3,200): Joyce is a popular value play lately because he is actually getting value right now. He has two homers, five RBI and a steal over his last ten games and has reached base at least once in each of the last dozen. I like his odds against Gaviglio to at least get on base.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – JUNE 21: Jose Berrios #17 of the Minnesota Twins delivers a pitch against the Chicago White Sox during the first inning of the game on June 21, 2017 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo by Hannah Foslien/Getty Images) /

P: Jose Berrios ($9,600): Berrios got knocked around a little by the Royals in his last start, which has really put a damper on his price. That is definitely our gain! The Orioles scored just three runs in the entire series against the Brewers over the holiday. Baltimore’s pitching has done them no favors either. So we get a hard throwing star in the making with a nasty out pitch against a team that got shut out by Matt Garza last night. Any questions?

P: Sam Gaviglio ($6,100): Gaviglio had what looked like a great matchup in his last start against the Angels except for one minor detail: he was on the road. Gaviglio has a 2.00 ERA in five home starts compared with 5.11 away from Safeco Field. Oakland has some good hitters, but not enough to chase me off of Gaviglio at home, especially for this price. For the record, it’s not like he pitched poorly against the Angels. He still turned in a quality start.

C: Jason Castro ($3,200): Dylan Bundy‘s ERA went up more than a run in the month of June, and neither he nor the team can figure out what the issue is. Until he figures it out, I am stacking lefties against him, even from a team like the Twins. The Twins are more pests than power, but if you get on base enough, you still hit value in DFS.

1B: Paul Goldschmidt ($4,900): I’m not a huge believer in Rich Hill‘s resurgence, and definitely not enough to pass on arguably the best hitter in baseball for at least $500 less than his usual price. Goldy is only 2-5 off of Hill with a RBI, so it’s not like he has posted elite numbers, but he is always a threat to. Don’t worry about the park either. Goldschmidt is hitting .328 with 14 homers, his most at any park besides his own, and 38 RBI there in 50 games.

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,800): Paul Blackburn looked brilliant against the Braves in his major league debut, but the Braves were still without Freeman and they were in Oakland. Seattle is an entirely different animal. The Mariners have a ton of left handed power that I am willing to unleash on the rookie. He will find the going a little tougher in Seattle.

3B: Kyle Seager ($3,700): Seager’s power numbers aren’t quite where we expect, but he still gets on base and drives in runs. That lack of power has depressed his DFS price. It’s all about finding bargains in DFS, and Seager looks like a good one at home against a right handed rookie pitcher.

SS: Chris Owings ($4,100): Owings is just another right handed power bat to throw at Rich Hill for well under his usual price. Hill still has a 4.03 ERA at home, and now faces one of the best offenses in the National League. There is some risk here, but I don’t see Hill’s recent run continuing against Arizona. They have too many weapons.

OF: George Springer ($5,000): Springer put up a huge line last night, and he didn’t even have to hit a home run to do it! He racked up 29 DraftKings points thanks to three hits, three runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases. There are so many ways he can get you points that I really cant justify not playing him against Francisco Liriano.

OF: Max Kepler ($4,400): Kepler is starting to warm up with 62 DraftKings points over his last six games. He should keep that hot streak going with Baltimore’s beleaguered pitching staff coming into Target Field. It plays as more of a hitter’s park that you might think.

OF: Eddie Rosario ($4,100): Rosario continues to rake against righties. He still managed eight DraftKings points last night even though Parker Bridwell silenced the Twins. I like him against the struggling Bundy tonight.
