The Cleveland Browns released corner Joe Haden on Wednesday morning. While he might not be the same player, he can still help a contender.

5. Philadelphia Eagles

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles need some cornerback help, and Haden could be their guy. Their current depth chart shows Jalen Mills and the newly-acquired Ronald Darby as the starters. The Eagles also just cut one of their second-string cornerbacks, Ron Brooks.

While the Eagles drafted Sidney Jones in the 2017 NFL Draft, he may not be ready to play for quite a while. This stable of cornerbacks does not exactly inspire confidence.

This would be a great fit for Haden and Philadelphia alike. Haden could get a decent one-year prove it contract, and the Eagles could either get a starter or a premier depth player. According to Over The Cap, the Eagles have about $12 million in cap space to spare and an obvious need at the position.

The Eagles spent the offseason loading up on receiver talent, but they have slowly started making moves to bolster their cornerback depth chart. Drafting Sidney Jones and trading for Darby are both long-term moves, but signing Haden could help them out in the short-term.

Haden also offers a veteran presence that is not found at all in the Eagles cornerback group. There are some slight risks, but if Haden is willing to sign a one-year deal, the Eagles should jump on the chance.
