The Kansas City Chiefs are pulling out all the stops against the New England Patriots to start the season.

The Kansas City Chiefs were having trouble getting the offense going in the first quarter, so they decided to run the wildcat with tight end Travis Kelce.

The play came on second down inside the Kansas City 20-yard line. Kelce faked the hand off and ended up running four yards for the first down. What looked like a ridiculous play call by Chiefs head coach Andy Reid actually kept the drive going. In fact, it was the first down in a drive that resulted in a touchdown that tied the game against the reigning Super Bowl champions.

It was an integral play in an outstanding drive that ran 12 plays and covered 90 yards. It was six minutes and 22 seconds long, which is quite something against one of the best defenses in football.

The Chiefs began the game with an ugly start. Much touted rookie Kareem Hunt ran for seven yards before fumbling the ball. Obviously, Reid wasn’t too excited about going back to Hunt for a run play, so he gave the ball to Kelce, instead.

The Chiefs know that they are going to need to be versatile if they want to defeat the New England Patriots in this Week 1 game.

The Patriots came right back down the field and scored a field goal to retain the lead by a score of 10-7.

New England hopes to win their second consecutive Super Bowl this season and have controlled the action offensively early, but didn’t know what to do when faced with a shocking play call.

The Chiefs will need to keep the Patriots on their toes if they hope to compete as the game goes on. Of course, they can’t afford to give New England any more chances like they did to start the game.
