Russell Westbrook signs 10-year extension with Jordan Brand
Russell Westbrook signed a long-term extension with Nike’s Jordan Brand.
Oklahoma City star Russell Westbrook has signed a 10-year extension with the Jordan Brand. Westbrook, the reigning NBA MVP, is about to get paid. Sorry Thunder fans, we know, this isn’t the extension you were hoping for.
Westbrook will be the long-term face of the Jordan Brand from here on out. Considering his historic season on the court in 2016-17, why wouldn’t he be? Westbrook averaged 31.6 points, 10.4 assists and 10.7 rebounds over the course of the entire season. Additionally, he joined Oscar Robertson as the only player to average a triple-double in a season. Similarly, he set the NBA’s record for most triple-doubles in a season with 42.
He was named Sports Illustrated’s most fashionable athlete for 2017. And is arguably the best dressed athlete in all of sports. Of course, with a weird style all his own. The 28-year-old often turns heads with his bizarre outfits. Now, Westbrook will turn heads with his own signature Jordan Brand style, which he will have the chance to create.
Although the sum of the reported deal has yet to be released, Westbrook will be Jordan Brand’s highest-paid endorser in the company’s history. All things considered, that’s a pretty big accomplishment seeing as other players signed with the Jordan Brand include Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Kawhi Leonard.

Additionally, Westbrook is to be rewarded with an on-court signature shoe. Westbrook has developed shoes for Air Jordan before, but he will now be rewarded with on-court, flashy sneakers to match his explosive play-style and exuberant fashion sense. The deal also ensures Westbrook legacy with the company for when he retires from the NBA. As if the deal couldn’t get sweeter for Westbrook, Air Jordan will also contribute annual donations to Westbrook’s Why Not? Foundation.
