In a matchup of playoff teams from a year ago, the Detroit Lions will play host to the Atlanta Falcons inside Ford Field on Sunday.

In a matchup of two teams that went to the playoffs last season, the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons will battle it out on Sunday. Both teams were on full display in Week 2, as they appeared in primetime on Monday and Sunday Night Football. They are both 2-0 heading into this matchup, so this one could be a heavyweight bout until the end.

For the Lions, they went into MetLife Stadium and destroyed the New York Giants in front of their home fans. Matthew Stafford has proven this season that he was well worth the big contract, and is getting production from a handful of his weapons. The Lions defensive front stepped up big-time against a bad Giants offensive line on Monday night, led by defensive tackle Ezekiel Ansah.

Atlanta shrugged off a so-so effort in Week 1 on the road against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, as they throttled the Green Bay Packers in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game. Running back Devonta Freeman found the end zone twice, and his counterpart, Tevin Coleman, also scored a touchdown. The offense was a juggernaut, and their opportunistic defense made play after play against Aaron Rodgers and company.

Prediction

The Lions have gotten off to a good start to the 2017 season, taking care of business at home in Week 1, and on the road in Week 2. They will have a tall task on their hands in the shape of the Falcons, and it should be a tight one on Sunday. However, the Falcons have too much offense for a Lions defense that is still growing as a unit.

Final Score: Falcons 30, Lions 24
