After a stunning game and a controversial ending, the Atlanta Falcons survive in Detroit against the Lions. What brought us to this point?

In typical Lions fashion, Matt Stafford almost lead the Detroit Lions to another fourth-quarter comeback. Stafford threw a pass that the officials declared a touchdown on the field but the replay official reversed the decision on the field. The referee then ruled a ten-second runoff, ending the game and giving the Atlanta Falcons the win.

Three Stars

1. Devonta Freeman

Freeman averaged over five yards per carry while his team led most of the game. He broke off a run of 18 yards and scored a touchdown. He was a major part of the team maintaining their lead over the Lions.

2. Matt Ryan

Ryan had an up and down day with two touchdowns and three interceptions, but he pulled it off when it mattered. He averaged twelve and a quarter yards per completed pass, kept the chains moving and put the ball in the end zone when they needed it most.

3. Matthew Stafford

While Stafford didn’t have the best game of his career or even this season, he did put his team in a position to win with eight seconds to go. Stafford was an inch away from leading his team to another fourth comeback win, and this time it would have been against the reigning NFC champions.

Next Week’s Games

The Falcons will take on the Buffalo Bills next week in Atlanta. The Bills are coming off an impressive win against the Denver Broncos. The game will test of both Buffalo’s defense and Atlanta’s offense.
