NBA Media Day is filled with platitudes and pat answers, cliches and tales of weight lost and muscle added. Lots of interchangeable questions about offseason improvements, team chemistry and the sports topic du jour (kneel much?). But one “journalist” is digging deeper, scouring social media for anything that could break the stories that no one else is even looking for.

Obviously, I’m talking about NBA Catwatch. Alex (@nbacatwatch) has made it his mission to create the top website for tracking NBA players’ cats, and right now, in his own words, “I’m the only one.” He joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast for a light-hearted talk about the feline friends of the NBA.

Among the topics covered:

  • How did NBA Catwatch begin?
  • Who has been his greatest ally in the quest for cat information?
  • Was the “Raise the Cat” movement in Philadelphia a boon for Catwatch?
  • Do any NBA players hate cats?
  • What happened with the Great Tax Scare of 2017?
  • Has he discovered a correlation between cat ownership and team success?
  • Do cats eat breakfast?

If you want to buy your own NBA Catwatch gear, please visit NBACatwatch.com. 100 percent of the proceeds benefit animal shelters

All Fastbreak Breakfast episodes are also available for download on iTunes and Soundcloud.
