Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones left Week 4 with a hip injury that sent a chill up the spine of fantasy owners everywhere.

The last thing anyone wants — fantasy owner or fan — is a star player getting hurt. Julio Jones is probably the best wide receiver in the NFL, and when he gets hurt the ripple effect is tremendous.

That was the case on Sunday against the Bill. Late in the first half, Jones took an early trip to the locker room with what appears to be a hip injury. It doesn’t appear to be serious on the surface, but anytime an injury-prone player like Jones gets hurt it’s never a good thing.

That’s not good on a number of levels. The most selfish of those levels is fantasy football, as Jones’ injury effects owners not only this week but potentially for weeks to come.

The Falcons are dealing with a similar problem, but the effect of losing Jones could be something that forces the team back down to earth. There has been no Super Bowl hangover for the Falcons, but once you take away the biggest offensive weapon the team has that suddenly turns the tables in a big way.

Atlanta has had to win without Jones before, but it’s not easy.
