According to a recent report, Colin Kaepernick will file a grievance against the owners of the NFL.

With a host of terrible quarterbacks taking the field every week in the NFL, it sure feels like the league is blackballing Colin Kaepernick. Apparently, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback agrees.

According to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, Kaepernick will file a grievance against the NFL owners.

This grievance will be “under the CBA” and is happening because of alleged “collusion.”

Freeman also reports that Kaepernick has hired high-profile defense attorney Mark Geragos.

Make no mistake about it, this is big news. Colin Kaepernick was the first NFL player to take a knee during the national anthem. Kaepernick was using his public profile to protest against police brutality, but many look at his protest as disrespect against the flag and the veterans who have protected that flag.

Obviously, this was not what Kaepernick was intending to do, but it was still frowned upon by many people.

Fast forward a year later and Kaepernick is without a job. He was not great as the 49ers’ quarterback last season, but it’s not like he was terrible. Based on some of the other quarterbacks on NFL rosters right now, Kaepernick undoubtedly has the talent to at least have a job.

I am not saying that he is a sure-fire starter, but you cannot tell me that this guy isn’t better than a majority of the backup quarterbacks in the NFL.

It has always seemed odd that Kaepernick could not find a job, and the former NFL quarterback is now trying to do something about it. It will be difficult for Kaepernick and his lawyers to prove that Kaepernick is being blackballed, but common sense tells us that he has a case.

Next: Teams that should sign Kaepernick

Whether Kaepernick wins his case or not, it should be extremely interesting to see what happens here. The NFL and its owners rarely get challenged like this, but Kaepernick undoubtedly has a case.
