The Cleveland Browns had a familiar face return to practice this week, and he’s picking up where he left off.

Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon hasn’t played in a NFL game since Week 15 of the 2014 season, and has not practiced in-season since Dec. 26, 2014. All of that changed on Wednesday when he practiced for the first time all season.

Gordon is an extremely talented receiver, and that talent was on display when he took the field for practice. Even though it’s a small sample size, the Browns are a bit thin on talent at the position he was still the best one on the field.

Gordon is not eligible to play in a NFL game until he is reinstated from the commissioner’s exempt list on Nov. 27. Adding a talented guy like Gordon to a below-average offense like the Browns would be a big help.

Hue Jackson said he gets to open up a new toy when he was asked about Gordon’s return. It will be interesting to see what kind of things Jackson does with him. As we know Jackson is one of the more creative offensive minds in the NFL. I’m sure he can cook up some ways to get Gordon easily involved in the offense.

Even though Gordon has been out of football for nearly three years he’s only 26, and won’t turn 27 until next April. There’s video of him working out on his own while he was suspended, and before he actually returned to practice he said he was “in the best shape” ever.

Gordon has only played 35 games in his entire career, but in that time he’s racked up over 2,700 yards receiving and has scored 14 touchdowns. Some of his best performances came from weeks 10-to-13 in the 2014 season when he recorded four straight games of 125-plus receiving yards. The Browns sure could that kind of production right now.
