Main’s Mavericks – Week 14 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks

Main’s Mavericks is providing Week 14 DraftKings NFL contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using my picks in Week 14 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that $1,000,000 lineup.

How I Did Last Week:

Trevor Siemian 4,800 @ MIA (32^nd Priced QB) – 6.60 (31^st QB)

Duke Johnson Jr. 4,800 @ LAC (26^th Priced RB) – 3.20 (>50^th RB)

Frank Gore 3,800 @ JAX (56^th Priced RB) – 6.10 (>50^th RB)

Emmanuel Sanders 4,900 @ MIA (39^th Priced WR) – 3.10 (>50^th WR)

Jermaine Kearse 4,300 v KC (59^th Priced WR) – 27.70 (4^th WR)

Cordarelle Patterson 3,400 v NYG (88^th Priced WR) – 13.80 (22^nd WR)

C.J Fiedorowicz 2,800 @ HOU (27^th Priced TE) – 3.60 (38^th TE)

Jermaine Kearse was truly the highlight of the week! As I stated in last week’s article: “I love me a target monster.” Kearse garnered 10 targets and caught 9 of them in his way to shredding the KC secondary for 157 yards. Cordarelle Patterson also had a nice week and was a massive bargain. Aside from Kearse and Patterson, it was a slow week. This is the 1^st week ever that zero Main’s Mavericks scored a touchdown. That is pretty pitiful. Let’s hope that Week 13 was an anomaly. I feel really good about this one!

Through week 13, Main’s Mavericks has 14 top 10 finishers at their respective positions’. 8 of those top 10 finishers ranked 5^th or better, with 3 1^st overall finishes (CJ Anderson week 2, Jerick McKinnon week 6, TY Hilton week 9).

Week 14 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks

QB:

Blaine Gabbert 4,800 vs TEN (30^th Priced QB)

Gabbert is not a great quarterback. He is a backup for a reason. However, I do kind of like the matchup this week against Tennessee. When Gabbert has had time to throw this season, he has done some good things. The Rams harassed the kid the whole game, yet he still finished with 12.04 DK points. Tennessee is tied with 4 teams in 15^th for sacks this year (per ESPN.com). If Gabbert has time to throw this Sunday, he should be able to distribute the rock and put up some decent fantasy numbers.

RB:

Isaiah Crowell 4,000 vs GB (44^th Priced RB)

If Peyton Barber can put up 21.30 DK points against GB, then Crowell should have a field day. He looked better last week, returning from an injury. I have the Browns winning their 1^st game of the season this Sunday, so that would mean a healthy dose of run it down their throats.

Tarik Cohen 3,700 @ CIN (62^nd Priced RB)

Mitch Trubisky came out and said that the offense needs to get the ball into Cohen’s hands. I am hoping OC Dowell Loggains takes this advice to heart. Cohen has been boom or bust all year. Although this is not a great matchup on paper, Cincinnati will be tired and beat up after that barroom brawl they had Monday night against the Steelers.

Andre Ellington 3,600 vs SF

Houston’s skill players are depleted. Ellington will get reps at RB and WR this week. He will be in line for a colossal day if Fuller and Miller are out. San Fran is terrible against the RB position, ranking 29^th in points against. Additionally, San Fran is 32^nd in the league when it comes to RBs scoring points through the passing game (per Fantasy.NFL.com).

WR:

Emmanuel Sanders 4,700 vs NYJ (39^th Priced WR)

Sanders is an easy start for me this week! He was targeted 7 times last week, and there is no way that a Denver QB could be as bad as Siemien was last week. Plus, Jets rank in the bottom 5 against fantasy WRs, giving up a TD a game to the position (fantasy.nfl.com).

Will Fuller 4,300 or Braxton Miller 3,100 vs SF (59^th Priced WR)

ALERT – Will Fuller has been sidelined for 3 weeks with broken ribs and Braxton Miller left last week’s game with a concussion. If one of these guys is able to play, they are in line for a huge day. Houston is thinner than Jennifer Hudson right now at the WR position. People will shy away from these guys because of injury concerns, but play them with confidence.

TE:

Dwayne Allen 2,700 @ MIA (27^th Priced TE)

Gronk was cave-man as ever last week when blatantly concussing Tre’Davious White – Gronk Smash. So that leaves only two tight ends on the roster. In order to exploit a great matchup against Miami, I will side with Allen. Allen has contributed only 5 receptions the entire season, but all 5 have come in the last 4 weeks. Do not expect much, but for basically the minimum he should get close to his value.
