Andy Reid dressed up as Santa Claus and we have questions

Andy Reid celebrated the Chiefs division title by dressing up as Santa Claus — or Santa Claus celebrated as Andy Reid…

After a bumpy season, the Kansas City Chiefs are AFC West champs. Despite the turmoil the team went through, it appears that all is once again good in the Kingdom and the good times have resumed.

After the win, head coach Andy Reid came into the Chiefs locker room dressed as Santa — or perhaps it was actually Santa, who knew that we would all think it’s just Reid.

Whoever it was, it wasn’t just for show in the locker room. Reid showed up to the postgame press conference as Santa too.

This begs the question that our own Jeremy Lambert raised in his NFL Christmas Letters piece earlier this week. In it, Andy Reid wrote a letter to Santa detailing how this is the time of year where they switch places. Apparently, they’ve been pulling the wool beard over our eyes for years now and routinely switch places at Christmas.

It was funny at the time — then Sunday happened. Is Andy Reid really Santa? Have they switched places? They say that Santa is a jolly big man in a red costume — which accurately describes Reid.

See.

Also, jolly…

The evidence speaks for itself.

Plus, Santa is going to need a day job. He can’t work one day a year flying around the world without moonlighting. Those elves don’t work for free, he has to come up with their salaries somehow. Reid makes a ton of money coaching the Chiefs — more than enough to pay an army of Elvish factory workers, plus benefits.

Existential questions aside, assuming this is Andy Reid what are the chances he never takes off the Santa costume? He never settles for anything less than the best so you have to imagine it’s made of some plushy and cozy material. Also, the Chiefs are 1-0 when Reid dresses up as Santa, so why ruin a good thing?

If nothing else, think of how crushed Chiefs owner Clark Hunt would be. The pure joy on his face when he sees Santa come into the locker room is a level of happiness we should all strive to achieve.

Reid as Santa for life. Happy Holidays, everyone.
