NFL roundup: Tom Brady injured at practice on Wednesday

With the NFL Playoffs entering Championship Sunday, it is no time for Tom Brady to suffer an injury, but that is what happened Wednesday.

The NFL season has just three games remaining, as we enter Championship Sunday this weekend. On Wednesday, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered an injury to his throwing hand, and had to be attended to by the medical staff. The injury forced him to miss his time with the media, sending up a firestorm of worry about his status for Sunday. Odds are, he will be ready.

Staying in the AFC East, it looks like the New York Jets will be looking for a new offensive coordinator. John Morton was fired from the team on Wednesday, which was a bit of a puzzling move. Morton did so much with very little this past season, turning the Jets into a reasonable offense with Josh McCown under center, and Robbie Anderson as their best weapon on the outside.

Another offensive coordinator that was shown the door on Wednesday was Todd Haley, who was let go of his position by Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Haley spent six season with  the Steelers, helping the team become one of the better offensive units in the NFL. However, his dink-and-dunk scheme will have to be used elsewhere, and now the search begins for a new OC in Pittsburgh. Whoever gets the job, certainly has an incredible canvas of talent to play with.

Mike Munchak was offered a second interview with the Arizona Cardinals, but he decided to turn it down. The currently offensive line coach for the Steelers may be eyeing the job left by Todd Haley, who was fired on Wednesday. Munchak is a former head coach, and will likely get another shot to be one down the line, but the Cardinals will have to look elsewhere for their replacement for the retired Bruce Arians.

One of the biggest names of free agency this offseason will be Drew Brees, the incredible star quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints cannot franchise tag Brees, which means they will have to commit to him on a long-term contract if they want to bring him back. The Saints are a playoff-ready team, and Brees wants to come back, so him returning to the team seems like a foregone conclusion.
