In our newest NBA Ladder we hold an All-Star style draft for this year’s rookie class.

The most exciting and disappointing event of the NBA season occurred on Thursday. The two faces of the league, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, acted as general managers for the day and selected their teams for the 2018 NBA All-Star game. The anticipation to find out which All-Star would be on which team rose rampantly as each hour without a leak from Woj or Shams passed by.

Finally, after TNT made the announcements the excitement wore off and left in its place was disappointment. Disappointment that the players couldn’t put their feelings aside and let this event be televised. It would have been must-see TV, I mean millions of people tuned in just to see James announce where he was taking his talents to in 2010. This was our opportunity to see if all of our GM LeBron jokes had any truth to them (by the way, have you seen LeBron’s roster? No way James has had any say in the Cavaliers roster decisions because he’s pretty damn good as a GM in his first go around).

To rectify this missed opportunity, here’s another player draft for the masses to digest. What if the rookies had a similar draft? Two players are chosen by a fan vote for captain and then each picks four of their peers for a five-on-five game to 21 by ones and twos to give it a real playground feel. The game could be played at halftime of the actual All-Star game instead of forcing musical acts down our throats.

That is the premise of this week’s rookie ladder. The captains were chosen based off the actual fan voting for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game and then each captain selected their team alternating picks until eight additional rookies were added to the event. If anyone has Adam Silver’s contact information just slip this article along to him. I’m sure it’s something he would love to use in Charlotte in 2019.
