Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, February 10?
Saturday Night Live has been beating the drum for the past month straight, but will they keep the show on the road with a new episode tonight, February 10?
Saturday Night Live has gotten off to a rocky start in 2018. Sam Rockwell blurted out an F-bomb, Jessica Chastain did her best with middling stuff, Will Ferrell’s amicable performances were dragged down by uninspired writing and Natalie Portman was game for absolutely anything, including Natalie’s Rap 2 that came together at the last minute before taping the show.
It’s par for the course, however, as the first nine episodes that aired in 2017 ranged from good to dreadful, including comedic actor Kevin Hart (who is normally leagues better acting as characters than telling standup comedy) just crashing and bombing outright. Funnily enough, Chance the Rapper was probably the greatest host of the season so far, and that includes a season with hosts such as Larry David and Will Ferrell.
If anything, Saturday Night Live is living and dying on Weekend Update, which has surprisingly punched its way through awful chemistry and mistimed, poorly-written jokes to some of the most profound, comedic takes the show has seen in recent years. Michael Che and Colin Jost benefited greatly from taking up positions as head writers, as their influence of jokes surrounding modern events and politics keep the weekend variety show as relevant as ever.

Still, the timing of the show’s scheduled break could not be better timed, especially with seasoned actors underperforming as of late. Saturday Night Live is not airing a new show tonight, as NBC is rightfully putting all of their efforts into airing 2018 Winter Olympics coverage from Pyeongchang, South Korea. The world will be watching to see which countries will take home the hardware, with four years of hard efforts culminating in a few weeks’ worth of competition.
Saturday Night Live will return on March 3 in about a month’s time, with Charles Barkley serving as the show’s host. Migos will be the musical guest, so we hope you like hip-hop triplets and Kenan Thompson impressions!
