Carlos Carvalhal’s Swansea came crashing down to earth last weekend as they suffered a 4-1 loss at the hands of Brighton. The Swans hadn’t lost in five league matches before the battering, but they recovered well with a midweek victory over Carvalhal’s former club, Sheffield Wednesday, in the FA Cup.
Swansea have been better at home under Carvalhal, getting their two shock results over Liverpool and Arsenal at the Liberty. They’ll be hoping to do the same against West Ham on Saturday as Mike Van Der Hoorn and Alfie Mawson will look to keep a clean sheet, and Jordan Ayew and Sam Clucas will look to nick a goal to help continue the Welsh clubs fight against the drop.
West Ham have found stability under new manager David Moyes but they’ve been struggling recently. They were embarrassingly knocked out in the fourth round of the FA Cup by Wigan Athletic and have only picked up four points out of a possible twelve since.
Liverpool made a mockery of them last weekend, beating them 4-1. The Hammers have shown the ability to perform away from home this season though. Most notably with a 4-1 win over Huddersfield back in the middle of January.
They’ll be looking for a similar result against the Swans on Saturday with Javier Hernandez, Manuel Lanzini, and Mark Arnautovic leading the line.
