The Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins have agreed to a deal that sends wide receiver Jarvis Landry to Cleveland for two draft picks.

The Dolphins placed the franchise tag on Jarvis Landry last week at roughly $16 million. However, it was understood that the team was trying to trade the star receiver. Several teams emerged as candidates, but the Browns made the best offer. According to Ian Rapoport, they are sending two draft picks to Miami in exchange for Landry.

The Browns are utilizing their surplus of draft picks to acquire talent. It is still unknown how high the picks are. Regardless, the Browns pulled the trigger and brought in a talented player for Hue Jackson to use.

UPDATE: The picks aren’t in the first two rounds of either draft

The 25 year-old has had a revolving door at quarterback in the last couple seasons with Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore, and Jay Cutler all taking snaps under center. He will now team up with Deshone Kizer, or whoever the Browns draft or sign in free agency. The Browns are also keen on keeping Landry in Ohio, and are reportedly already close on a contract extension.

The Browns, coming off of an 0-16 season, need as much talent as they can get. Pairing Landry up with Josh Gordon and David Njoku can prove to be deadly, assuming Cleveland can land a better quarterback.

Landry is entering the prime of his career and could be a pivotal player for the Browns for years to come. He is best utilized in the slot position, which should be no issue with Gordon also on the roster.

Whether this is a good move for the Browns remains to be seen. Landry could be a shell of himself and the deal could prove to be horrible. Or, he could be the guy to help bring the franchise out of the abyss. Knowing the browns, it is more likely to be the former.
