The UNC Tar Heels face the Lipscomb Bisons in the 2018 NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 16, and here’s all the info you need to watch.
One year ago, it was the North Carolina Tar Heels that captured the National Championship for college basketball. Roy Williams’ team lost key contributors from that squad, however, so now they will have a tall task in trying to repeat. They still have the talent to do so, though, and the repeat bid for UNC in the 2018 NCAA Tournament begins on Friday as they face the Lipscomb Bisons.
The Tar Heels are led by senior point guard Joel Berry and junior forward Luke Maye into the tournament. There are also key experienced players like Theo Pinson and Kenny Williams that will need to contribute in big ways, a category that grad transfer Cam Johnson also fits into. The skinny on UNC is that they can beat anyone in the country when they are at their best. But the issue is that they haven’t been at their best with any kind of consistency.
Meanwhile, Lipscomb comes into the NCAA Tournament as the Atlantic Sun champions and hope to pull off the biggest upset yet. Led by Garrison Matthews, who averages north of 22 points per contest, the Bisons will need their leader to step up if they’re going to knock off the Tar Heels.
Details for Friday’s game are below:
This UNC team is far different than the one that one the title a year ago. However, they are still tremendously talented and have the high-end potential to go exceptionally far in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. All that is to say that Lipscomb will have to bring their best game on Friday if they want to knock off the Tar Heels.
