Second Round action continues at the 2018 NCAA Tournament as a strong Xavier team continues on a path to the Final Four. After a big 102-83 win over Texas Southern in the First Round, Xavier is red-hot but Florida State is looking to pull off a huge upset.

No. 1 Xavier was solid against No. 16 Texas Southern in the Musketeers’ opener in the NCAA Tournament. They led the entire game and never looked back, which is what they will want to do in their matchup against Florida State. Guard J.P. Macura had 29 points and 6 rebounds, Trevon Bluiett added 26 points and forward Kerem Kanter added 24 in the big win over Texas Southern. Xavier was 11-for-24 in 3-pointers and 21-for-32 in free throws, which only added to their victory.

On the other side, No. 9 Florida State knocked out 8-seed Missouri with a 67-54 win in the First Round. Missouri was ice cold in the first half with 20 points against the Seminoles’ 42 points. Missouri tried to come back in the second half but Florida State held on to the lead, giving them a 13 point win. Forward Mfiondu Kabengele had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and the team was 46.7 percent from beyond the arc and 58.1 percent in free throws.

Given how many upsets have taken place already, there’s always a chance that Florida State might come out fighting to claim a victory. Every point is going to matter in this game that determines which team moves on to the Sweet 16.
