No story better sums up how anonymous Loyola is than the one Ben Richardson told

To celebrate the Loyola Ramblers trip to the Final Four, Ben Richardson embarassed his friend and teammate on national television.

Call them a Cinderella or admit they’re a great basketball team, either way the Loyola Ramblers are on to the Final Four. Becoming only the fourth 11-seed in tounrmanet history to ever do it, the Ramblers punched their ticket to San Anotnio and the Final Four after blowing the doors off Kansas State on Sunday night.

There’s an arguement to be made that the Ramblers are unfairly being called a Cinderella. Five years of hard work by head coach Porter Moser has helped forge a team that very well could contend for a Final Four spot for years to come. One thing that can’t be disputed is that you couldn’t pick a Ramblers player out of a grocery line if you were paid to do it.

Such a thing is what Ben Richardson recounted after the win. When asked about their underdog status, Richardson told a story about how he and teammate Clayton Custer were approached by a fan who didn’t know that the latter was even on the team.

This, despite the fact that both Richardson and Custer are two of the Ramblers most well-known faces. That tells you exactly how unknown this Final Four team is.

The Ramblers might not have been more relatable than when Custer quipped, ““I’m gonna be mad at Ben for telling that story to the whole world after this.”

Nothing sums up how far under the radar the Ramblers have flown, even as they’ve marched to the Final Four. As they sit just two wins away from a national championship, their days of going unnoctied appear to be numbered.
