With five games remaining in the Premier League season, Southampton are in desperation mode. The Saints are 18th in the table, five points behind Swansea for the final safety spot. On Thursday, Southampton travel to King Power Stadium to face Leicester. The Foxes are comfortably in the top half of the table. While the Saints will likely need to win out to remain in the Premier League next season.

Leicester have dropped two straight games, losing 2-1 to Burnley on Saturday. Jamie Vardy has been on fire lately. Vardy has scored in four straight games and eight of his last 10 games. This season, the English striker has found the back of the net 17 times, fourth-most in the Premier League. Vardy and Riyad Mahrez continue to be the driving force behind Leicester’s attack. Mahrez has scored 10 goals this season and added eight assists. The duo will look to put a serious dent in Southampton’s dream of survival.

Southampton blew a two-goal lead in the final 20 minutes, losing 3-2 to Chelsea on Saturday. The Saints have lost four straight games and have picked up only two points over their last seven games. Southampton have struggled to score goals this season, with Mauricio Pellegrino and Mark Hughes unable to find a way to increase offense without leaving the club too exposed defensively. Hamstring injuries have cost Charlie Austin almost half of the season but he is still leading the club in scoring.
